Evolving Environments

2011
For Deutsche Bank’s Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, we developed Evolving Environments, a permanent, 12-metre-wide generative media wall composed of eight distinct brand artworks.

A Wall in Motion

The installation welcomes visitors and staff with atmospheric cityscapes, hand-drawn sceneries, shifting patterns, and expansive landscape animations that unfold across a high-resolution screen. Rather than functioning as a decorative backdrop, the work sets the spatial tone of the headquarters, offering a living visual environment that changes throughout the day.

Eight Artworks, Infinite Variations

Each artwork runs as a real-time generative system built on bespoke software, meaning the visuals never repeat. The animations are not pre-rendered loops but continuously evolving compositions, shaped by code and computational behaviours that produce subtle variation and new constellations of form with every iteration. Passers-by encounter a different moment each time they move through the space, discovering new details and atmospheres within the same visual world.

Embedding Intelligence

Created in collaboration with Universal Everything, Evolving Environments demonstrates how generative art can operate at architectural scale, embedding a sense of motion, atmosphere, and computational intelligence directly into the fabric of corporate space.
